Completing plant shutdown and valve and pump maintenance with So-eZy and X-ceed 520

Introduction

A plywood manufacturing company was facing persistent valve and thermic fluid pump leaks that could not be controlled. These leaks were causing loss of fluid, fluid cost and increasing maintenance costs. In search of a reliable solution, they reached out to Eximious – Dr. Thermic Fluid.

Challenges:

  • Nut Bolt opening : The rusted and seized nut bolts were challenge for opening. They were causing breakage requiring cutting, drilling and welding for the replacement.
  • Leakage: Persistent leaks in valves and thermic fluid pumps were causing operational inefficiencies.
  • Time Constraints: Removing the old gland packings was taking too long, delaying maintenance, and adding to labour costs.

Solution:

Eximious – Dr. Thermic Fluid provided a comprehensive solution by addressing both the gland removal issue and the leak problem:

  • Easy opening of nut bolts by using So-eZy spray which penetrated to the core. This facilitated the opening. Further coating of nut bolts by Xceed 520 after finishing the job to avoid corrosion ad seizing.
  • Gland Removal Solution: Eximious recommended the use of the MACSTAR GETS (Gland Extractor Tool Set), which included both fixed and flexible extractors of various sizes. The versatile tools enabled quick and efficient gland removal, even in hard-to-reach areas, significantly reducing the time and labour required for the job.
  • Guaranteed Leak Protection: To address the leaks, MACSTAR 2800 was installed, providing a virtual zero-leak guarantee for three years, ensuring that future leaks would be effectively prevented.
  • Team Collaboration: After discussing the specific needs with the company’s maintenance team, Eximious was able to implement a solution that met both their time constraints and operational requirements.

Conclusion:

The solution provided by Eximious – Dr. Thermic Fluid, including the use of So -eZy, Xceed 520 and MACSTAR GETS for fast gland removal and MACSTAR 2800 for leak prevention, successfully addressed the issues faced by the plywood manufacturing company. The improved gland removal process and long-term leak protection helped the company maintain operational efficiency while reducing maintenance costs.
